Sandblaster surprise

This is a little exercise I worked out on some foundry property. I was just trying to clean out an airbrush and one thing led to another...next thing ya know, I'm looking at Frankenstein. It was fun and makes me want to pick up an airbrush for more fun.

Merry Christmas

Hey Folks! This is my Chritmas Card this year. Doesn't it send warm shots of holiday cheer down your spine? In case it's a little unclear, this young lad is having a close encounter of the Christmas Eve kind. He's just surprised a creature from another dimension disguised as old saint nick and up to some intergalactic no good. Quickly thinking, the boy attempts to roast the being's chestnuts on an open fire by starting with the creatures highly flammable fake beard. On this night, Christmas and the universe are saved. Merry Christmas everybody!

The pipe shop

A simple man with his simple pleasures.

For fun

Is the kid praying for mercy or getting ready to attempt a karate chop...we may never know.

More charicature

What do you get two beautiful people for a wedding gift. A big-head portrait...nothing has more class.

Iain!

This little ditty got me a signed copy of Iain's new book Shadowline.

Another Digger

This is the fourth and final portrait of the Digger character I've been working on. I'm pretty satisfied with the results. I guess I'll be moving onto some orthos for him next. Stay tuned...

Mechanic babe redux

This is a redo of an earlier piece that I felt was pretty weak. I think this piece is ten times stronger than the previous one, however I think there will probably be another version coming in a couple months to make up for the kinks in this one.

Just a quick sketch that started in my sketchbook.

The Digger Cont'd

This guy just keeps on evolving. Now he's kind of got an Anthony Hopkins meets Boris Karloff thing goin on. This was really an exercise in using custom brushes in Photoshop. Which I had a blast doing.

Oil Rig

Quick Color studies

I know, one looks fantasy and one looks sci/fi, but they're both from the same project.

The Digger's portraits

What a handsome devil in color!
Not quite as handsome in gray scale, but I'm sure he's one hell of a good cook.

The Digger

This guy went through a lot of changes as you can see, from the initial concept sketch to the final painting. The painting is water color, roughly 15"x18"

The power went out the other night so I was without light and more importantly- a computer. It was a blessing in disguise however, because after gathering every candle I had- I dusted off the old water color set. And oh how fun it was. In this digital age it's rare that one gets to work with candle light.

Earlier this week I played carpenter by helping my uncle add onto his garage. There's a lot of satisfaction in swinging a big hammer.
